You might think feeling hungry almost every hour is normal and for some of us hunger creeps in minutes after we have just had a large meal .
Think again! Is it normal ?
Eating your regular three meals a day is perfectly normal, plus you can throw in an afternoon tea or snack before dinner. Whereas ,some people just cannot help, but eat more. And, if you’re one of them, you might want to step away from the kitchen for a while after reading this article. Your body might be giving you signs and hints about an underlying condition, which may be physical or mental. If your hunger cannot be curbed no matter how much you’ve eaten you may want to see if you belong to any of the following categories:
Too much exposure to food porn
We kid you not! A study has been published in the Obesity Journal entitled ‘ Ghrelin levels increased, after pictures of food were shown’. People who were shown photos of mouthwatering dishes displayed elevated levels of ghrelin, the hunger hormone. Even food advertisements aired on Television can trigger ghrelin.
Your sense of smell is also a part of the bandwagon that makes you hungry. If you smell pleasant food aroma, you may get hungry. The smell triggers the mouth to produce saliva, and the stomach contracts, this is exactly what happens when you have hunger pangs.
So, what should you do? You can switch over to other channels, when food commercials are on. You could also un-follow food brands on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. You should also avoid passing by restaurants and kitchens after having eaten.
