The end of the reproductive life of a woman is marked by the cessation of her menstrual periods permanently  and this is known as menopause or climacteric, i.e she no longer is able to have children. It is the time when the function of the ovaries in a woman comes to an end. It does not happen overnight but is a gradual process with ageing. The average age for menopause worldwide is 51 years, but varies from case to case with  as early as 30 years of age or as late as 50 years of age. It is not a disease or ailment but a biological process. It comes with some changes in the behaviour of an woman like increase in anxiety, feelings of sadness and loss, disturbed sleep among a few. Menopause can be treated by hormone replacement therapy and other herbal treatments.
